"Healthy, happy people make healthy, happy communities..." image
We are a small social enterprise with core values of love and respect for people and the planet.
We are healers who work collectively to share our skills in a way that is affordable and accessible to everyone who wants it.

"...and healthy, happy communities make healthy, happy people!"

We work together for the benefit of the community because life is better when others around us are happy. We use small grants to run community-lead projects, offer discounted rates to those who need it and partner with other organisations to reach people in crisis.

By choosing to have your treatment with us, you are supporting an ethical business. Our therapies are always charged at market rates, but as a social enterprise we reinvest all of our profits into projects for social change.

And all the products we use are cruelty-free, locally sourced and eco-friendly, because we take responsibility for our impact on the planet.

We like to work as a collective and value the input of the community. If you'd like to get involved, please Get In Touch - we'd love to hear from you.

Ama Asomaning

Director

Hi, I'm Ama. I'm very excited to be a director of In Touch, a group of brave and beautiful people that provide sorely needed mind/body relief to so many wonderful souls. From supporting those labouring to find sanctuary in this country to our work with the wider community and our elders, I'm proud to be part of this wonderful enterprise. I bring to the table bags of enthusiasm and creative thinking, community focus and a dash of legal background. As well as using and believing in Complementary Therapies, I have a keen interest in community power and justice.

a Community Interest Company

In Touch founders were inspired by people we met in the refugee ‘Jungle’ of Calais in 2010. The migrants stuck there had taken incredible risks to seek safety in the UK, and their journeys were not over yet. We realised we needed to be there for people when they arrived in this country, to help them recover from their ordeals.

We began in 2012 by volunteering massage for PAFRAS, a pioneering charity that supports refugees and asylum seekers. We also volunteered for OPAL, who support older people to remain independent. Seeing the benefit of what we were doing, we registered as a Community Interest Company in 2013 and ran projects with Touchstone, Hamara Women’s Centre, Behno and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

In 2017 we worked with the social prescribing agency Connect Well to provide a range of holistic therapies for people on low income in LS7 and LS8. We set up a treatment room at St Martin’s Medical Practice and began to enter the medical world - until Covid-19 interrupted it all.

After several years’ disruption, we are building our way back up again, to serve our community once more.

We have just been awarded £10,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to run the Personal Empowerment Project (PEP)

The aim of PEP is to help people out of pain and into a place of health. We believe that knowledge is power, and by helping people understand their bodies, we will empower them to maintain their own good health. With plenty of guidance and support. By providing group exercise classes for local adults and asylum seekers, we will build bridges across communities and promote support, friendship and togetherness. We will also be providing a number of free massage therapy sessions for asylum seekers and older people over the year.
